MIT/Harvard ImpactLabs Summer Workshop Nigeria 2017

Deadline: July 7, 2017 Applications are invited for the third edition of the ImpactLabs Summer Workshop! ImpactLabs is an initiative launched by students and graduates of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University in 2014 when they launched the first summer camp at the University of Lagos. In 2015, they were joined by the Technology Innovation Labs (TIL) of Bells University of Technology, Ota, Nigeria. Their instructors bring varied expertise in engineering design and software. During the camps, the participants gain hands-on experience combining techniques in software and engineering design into real-life technology. The Innovation in Development Reporting Grant Programme (IDR) is a media funding project operated by the European Journalism Centre. The grant programme aims to advance innovative reporting approaches, thus enabling a better coverage of international development issues. According to the UN, more than 790 million people worldwide still lack regular access to adequate food and nutrition. Ending hunger and malnutrition relies heavily on sustainable food production systems and resilient agricultural practices. As part of this internship, your first immediate responsibility will be to become a heritage explorer. You will also write stories based on a theme. These themes will be communicated by GoUNESCO’s in-house editor. You will be expected to research article ideas and come up with current, relevant, insightful and popular topics related to an applicable theme. At the end of the internship, you will be required to coordinate, organize an event, or write a report depending on your involvement and interest. The Government of Canada launched the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program in 2008 to strengthen Canada’s ability to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher learning. Vanier Scholars demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and/or humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering and health.
